Plain talk about
Remote Patient Monitoring.

The WHAT, WHY, and HOW of Remote Patient Monitoring.

WHAT is Remote Patient Monitoring?

Long-term monitoring is an excellent way for physicians to evaluate you on a daily basis when you have medical risks that you are currently being treated for.  Whether it’s having you use a small, portable monitor to check your glucose levels (a Glaucometer), or an automatic blood pressure machine to see your blood pressure each day, these devices link up with special software to give your physician the ability to see those details every day.

WHY should I do this test?

When there are many variables that can affect your short-term and long-term health, monitoring these levels on a daily basis can directly impact how your doctor oversees your medical care.  In some cases, they will see a problem before you notice a change in your symptoms and can communicate with you about coming in for an emergency visit before anything unfavorable happens.

HOW is the test performed?

Each device is different and requires a different setup.  However, your physician or their staff will show you the device, explain how it works, and show you how to take your measurements at home.  Some devices come equipped to sync up directly with your physician’s software at their office, and will immediately send measurements to them after you take one.  Some will require a small ‘hub’ that you plug into your wall.  It just depends on the device.
